Injury Assessment involves a thorough examination of the injured area and any other area which we may feel is linked to the injury.
In the assessment, we identify what needs to be treated and a personalised rehabilitation plan is designed specifically to meet your needs.
Types of pain/discomfort we can help with:
Back and Hip
Wrist and Hand
Knee and Shin
Ankle and Foot
If you are suffering with pain/discomfort, contact us for an injury assessment.
Postural analysis: poor posture can lead to reduced range of motion in the shoulders and neck as well as poor hip movement. It can also lead to knee pain as more load may be placed on the knees.
Joint range of motion testing:
Tight muscles restrict the joints but it is not always the obvious muscles which are causing the restriction.
Joint and muscle flexibility testing:
Each joint has many muscles which pass over it and in general, the joint is only really stretched in one or two positions. We will show you a variety of sport specific stretches or every day stretches which will focus on individual muscles.
Flat feet are very common and can lead to ankle, knee and hip problems, which if not corrected can become chronic pain. By strengthening the affected muscles in the area, it can take some pressure off the joint and reduce the risk of injury.
Strapping is used to add protection of an injured joint (eg ankle, wrist, knee, elbow).
Dry needling is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into specific areas of the body.
We use a solid filament needle as used in the practice of acupuncture as both are based on similar theories.
The dry needling treatment is used to ease muscle and nerve pain. The needle targets the trigger points which is the direct and palpable cause of pain. Dry needling relies on the stimulation of a specific reaction in the target tissue for its therapeutic effect.
Kinesio tape can be used to treat a huge amount of aliments and injuries from chronic pain to swelling.
The kinesio tape mimics the qualities of our skin.
Kinesio tape can be used before, during and after activities, and worn for up to three days without harming skin.
